Too much light?

Okay, I think my zoo tank is getting too much light because it seems that the majority of my zoos are melting away. I have 2 40 breeders that are back to back where one is approximately 3-4 inches higher than the other. I have an 1 aquaspacelight that's hanging above both tanks with 2x250W hamilton 14ks and 2 32W actinic PCs. The light is about 2.5 feet from the top of the higher tank which happens to be my zoo only tank at the moment. I have numerous zoos in this tank(safecrackers, jokers, bam bams, dragon eyes, fire & ice, RPES, AOG, pinks, etc.) I've had to move the majority of them to the ends of the tank because if they're anywhere near the middle (which is where the light is) they seem to melt away. I was hoping to put zoos all over the tank, not just on the ends. Is it too much light for zoos? I figured having the light about 2.5 feet from the surface of the tank would suffice. By the way, the setup has been in place for about a month now and the majority of the zoos were in tanks with PC lighting previously(hmmm, have I answered my own question where they're still acclimating to the new lighting).

Sorry for the long winded message but I wanted to give as much detail as possible.

Thanks.

Somethign you can try aquanut is to take a frame about the size of the top of your tank and use pantyhose or some other material to deflect some of the light to see if that helps.
If your stuck with those lights you may be able to acclimate them to the light just as you would the water itself. Use several screens to make layers and then slowly remove one screen after a few days.

Hope it helps and works for you.

I have a hard time believing that your 250,at 2.5 feet above the water is to much light but you could always shorten your light cycle. I personally would start changing 10 gallons a week on a regular basis and see if it doesnt help.

Thanks for the replies. I'm definitely due for a water change so hopefully that'll help. I like the screen idea, so I'll try that as well.

Thanks again.
