Im kind of embarrased to ask this question here but ohh well.... I just got my new Nikon D-80 in, wow it takes great pic's!!! anyway on to the stupid question..... well to say it bluntly i cant figure out how to turn the monitor on? i can take a pic through the eye peice view finder and the pic will pop up on the monitor but i cant get the monitor to come on to take pic's through it. I read and read but cant find any solution? help!!!

The Nikon D90 has a little button at the top-right of the display that will provide "live view" (labeled LV). If yours is the same, you can use that. However, it's not the best for shooting with, as the auto-focus slows down a great deal and you lose some info you'd get through the viewfinder.

I dont see the live view button on my D-80 gkyle, i guess mine doesnt have it.

Anyone know a good macro lens for this camera? right now im useing a 18-135mm. Also where is the best place to buy one?

The D80 doesn't offer Liveview - it was an added feature for the D90.

As for macros, there have been several macro threads in this forum over the past month. They will give you lots of good ideas. For a first dedicated macro lens, the choices are all excellent and include: Tamron 90, Tokina 100, Sigma 105 and Nikon 105 VR. The VR is a lot more expensive. You might be able to pick-up a non-VR Nikon for a lower price (also an excellent lens).

I'm jealous...I've been pining after a D80 for at least two years now. Phenomenal camera.

As for the Nikon VR macro lens...you'll find it much easier to take good macro shots with a tripod, and in many cases having VR enabled while on a tripod can cause the camera to try to compensate for shake that isn't there, which will actually create some motion blur in your image. While the VR is a nice feature to have, it's not entirely necessary on a macro lens depending on what you plan to shoot with it most of the time.

I got a great deal on it, I paid 750 with the lens shipped to my door. Im not sure what it retails for but everything I read said it was the professional's pick.

It's a SLR camera. Except for a few of the newer models you have to use the viewfinder.
Yeah your really not supposed to use the monitor with this type of camera.
