Torch and Frog not looking good.

Sup all, I've had my tank up and running since about September of last year and up until about a week or 2 ago, my LPS have been doing fine. However, now neither my Frog or Torch corals are extending as much as they have in the past. The Frog also some times loses some of its fleshy pieces (I think it's from the frog) once in awhile when I do a water change. Maybe a 1/4" piece I see floating around.

All of my other corals have been doing fine though which include several variety of Zoas, palys, GPS, xenia, colt and waving hand coral. Even my candy cane coral (I think it's a candy cane) is doing fine. Just the torch and frog are showing signs of problems.

So now for the usual stuff...

I only have an Ammonia and Nitrate kit currently, but both are reading fine. Ammonia is 0 and the Nitrate is just a slight shade above the 0 mark on the test card.

Things I've added since then:
-Intank fuge: This is just a shower container that you can buy at walmart with 2 suction cups.
-2 of the Zoa's I got from a buy from a local guy.
-The candy cane frag from a local guy.
-Sea Hare which went missing within 2 hours of being placed in the tank and I presume dead by now.
-Midas Blenny I got the same day as the hare about a week ago.

Things I've done to try and help:
-20% water change once a week
-Reduction in tank feedings and less flake/pellet food.

This is about it. I may be wrong, but both the Torch and Frog also appear to be finally branching now too. For about a month or 2 the branches were very oval in shape and now both are showing signs that the oval is branching into 2 heads. But they've grown a few heads in the past and never seen this.

This is all the information I can think to provide. If you need more feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance for any and all help guys!

First thing I would do is get more test kits and test for CA/ALK/MG. If you have not tested your parameters could be out of whack after all this time.

Is there any corals around it that are touching?

btw, my froggy drops little pieces of flesh every now and then. I believe it is normal.

Well my Xenia is brushing up against my torch tentacles every once and while due to flow, but the sweeper hasn't caused a problem yet. My clowns also have been hosting my Torch for about 5 months. If my Frogspawn wasn't acting the same way then I'd consider the clowns to be a problem after all this time.

I've tried to get the test kits, but all I've found locally are those test strips that kind of test everything? According to them I'm in the clear for everything but I hear the test strips are very unreliable.

Things are looking better now though. The torch has started to expand more and more over the past week and today it looks fairly good even though the fleshy tentacles are a bit thinner then they were. They're still a good color. The Frogspawn is also expanding more (but still not nearly as much as it was) wth the exception of the head or 2 that don't get much light. I'm gonna frag the frog and position all the heads a little better but I wanted to wait till they started acting normal again.

Do yourself a favor and order good test kits online. Trust me, you need them. With any amount of stoney corals and even coraline, your alk has to be low.

I really would not worry about them to much other than that. The frogspawn would kill the xenia, not the other way. The clowns could be causing them not to expand fully. I have had this happen with gonipora and a few others until my Onyx went to the BTA.

Good Luck.

Yea, the first week or so they were in there the torch closed up and didn't come out, but for the past several months it's been fine and doesn't retract even when the clowns zip in and out real fast.

I'd be willing to bet it's low Alk!
Listen to TomDe and get some good test kits.
