Torch coral and bubble algae

I bought a torch coral in March. About six weeks ago I noticed bubble algae growing on the base. I put the algae in a small plastic water filled container and scrapped off the bubble algae. Since then the coral has not extended very much and by the end of the day is almost completely retracted. I had to remove more bubble algae three weeks ago.

I thought might be getting too much flow and moved it to a quieter place. I didn't change so today I moved it to where it gets more flow. The back side is now exposed and I see more bubble algae growing.

I don't know what to do. I think I damaged the coral scraping off the algae. I need to protect my tank from the bubble algae. I'm ready to give up on the coral. Please advise.

I am not sure if all green emeralds eat bubble algae but I have one and it cleared up a 70G tank in one day, literally.

As far as the coral, have you tried dipping it in something like Revive? Might have a parasite.

Flow is not the only issue you may have . Water quality , lighting , other corals aggression to name a few. Can you QT the coral for removing the algea and recovery purposes ?

+1 to what everyone else said, and also you should get used to bubble algae now because it will always be there if your phosphates are high. Almost everyone has at least a small bit of it in their tanks, it's not the end of the world.

Funny answer...but has anyone tried black mollies. They are freshwater fish that can be relatively (some say standard acclimation to new tank, i say give them 3 days to be safe) quickly acclimated to saltwater. Mike Paletta has videos about this for his frag tank on youtube. I acclimated mine in less than a week and had babies about 30 days later...

Anyway, they decimated the macro algae i had in their small tank in a few days. Its a consideration and they can be acclimated back to fresh if you care to keep a small, no hassle freshwater "algae defense tank" on the sidelines (or make a friend thats willing too ;-) )

found this on my aussie torch coral about three bubbles. where does it come from? how do i get ride of it. a safe way please I love this coral its huge.
