Torch Coral HELP!

Hi All,

Ok, so I own a nano tank 10 gallons. I have a zoathids "Gorilla nipples" colony and a Torch Coral with 6 heads. For some reason my Torch is secrating (not too often) the white slime, also, it looks kind of contracted. I have 165W LED, Full spectrum lights, hanging above three feet from the aquarium. I have a clown fish and a flame angel fish. Why do my Torch Coral contract? Do you think running the lights for too long will cause this? I run the lights about 12 hours a day, with blues 1 hour in the morning and then the full spectrum kicks in for about 10 hours and then blue for another hour and lights come off. Here are my parameters:
1) PH 8.2
2) Temp = 75.9 to 76.2 (NO more or less than that)
3) contant salinity of 1.025 (I use a refractometer to look at it everyday)
4) ammonia 0
5) Nitrites 0
6) Nitrates 0 (I vodka dose everyday)
7) Ca 400 to 410 (Use 1 ML of purple tech everyday to keep Ca above 400)
8) dKh 14

I only use RO water for water changes and before I put water in I make sure that its 1.025 salinity and same temperature as the tank so that I would not have any variations. PH stays the same as well.

What am I doing wrong? I don't get it!

Those temps seem very low. My tank doesnt go below 78 ever usually towards 80. Have any fish that could be bothersome? How long have you had the torch?

So do you think I should try upping up the temps? I have observed the fish in case one gets bored and decides to play with it. None pay attention to it really.

It couldnt hurt. Also did you acclimate it well? I have some palys that slime now and again usually the result of a rouge hermit crab.

I think I did, I had it in the bag for 30 mins before putting in the tank. I did see a hermit crab once, but it was at the base of the coral. I have not seen it again. Hopefully it'll just be the temperature <sigh> I don't want to lose it. I mean right now is looking better than the picture, just not full extension like it was when I brought it from the LFS.

I would say the flame angel nipping when you aren't around is a possibility which I don't want to be "that guy" but you shouldn't put a flame angel in a 10g..... maybe it's in too much flow? Got any power heads in the tank? I think getting it up to 78ish would be a good idea too

I do have a power head, it sits above it, but the flow it gets is an indirect flow when the current comes back after reaching the other end of the tank. Also, is hiding behind the side of a rock so it moves but its kind of a moderate flow. Ok, I will get it up to 78ish and will let you know. Thank you guys for your replies.
