Is it OK for my torch to be spewing this brown stringy stuff?

Possibly waste, more likely excess zooanthelle. does it look lighter? My hairy mushrooms did this and completely bleached but I've also had corals do it and not bleach.

It's tough to say from the picture. If it is stringy and slimy, it may be zooxanthellae. Otherwise, it could be digested food. How long has the coral been in that location? Sometimes corals release zooxanthellae algae when they have been moved to more intense lighting and are still adjusting. If they wern't mived recently check you water parameters.

I got him about two weeks ago. So the lighting is new for him. I have 4 HO T5's on a 75 gallon.

It is stringy and looks slimy and it is the same brown color as its tentacles.

Doesn't seem interested in eating mysis shrimp, is there another torch favorite I should try?

If it's expelling zooxanthellae, it could be because they are producing too much nutrients already. Force feeding it, would probably kill it. I'd wait a few days and see what it does. If it's hungry it will eat.
