I've been keeping sps for a while now but haven't really gotten into the mor eexpenceive stuff. I was planning on getting a small frag of tort soon, is there any particular kind that is easyier to take care of? where in my tank should it be placed? If i get it cutt fresh suold i super glue it to a base right away or wait like 3 days to do it?

i would get a cheaper one. they seem to like a lot of light and flow, so high up. as to mounting... i'm not sure it matters much.

IME the tort is a very tough coral. It seems like to me if you get one out of another reefers tank it should do great in your tank. Seeing that you have sps that are doing fine whether another one should do fine also. When you get the frag it's a good idea to keep him low in the tank for a few days or so, so it can adjust to the shock of moving. Once it has been in yout tank for a while you can move it around to try to find a good spot for it, monitoring its polyp extension and growth etc. The blue tort is a stag so it grows fast too.

I always thought that tort was a slow grower and thats why it costs so much moe than validia or tenius ect ect
So should i mount it on a small piece of lr right away ?

i believe the oregon tort is known as a slow grower, but i have heard others whose tort has grown quickly

When I fist read the title, I thought you wanted legal advice. LOL

i have a tort is in the middle to top and decent flow and have 3 little frags i cut in case the one i bought went bab wich it kind it did a little bit but now is good and the frags are encrusted and is a very slow grower

I'd start with the ORA/Cali tort as it readily available and a fairly easy coral to keep. In my experience the tort does better in a med/lower flow spot definitely not a coral that likes the really high flow. As for placement I have mine under 400 watt Iwasakis in the middle of the tank, but just moved it up to the top yesterday.

I've never found torts to be a tough coral. I've had good success with them in many different lighting situations as well as flow. The only time I've had problems is getting one from a tank that had high nutrients or poor lighting, and then it was just a matter of acclimation or run the risk of it bleaching.
