his name is sally and i dont really know the scientific name?

Looks like "her" name is Sally. The scientific name for dwarf seahorses is Hippocampus zostrae.

I would keep a close eye on the tnk for hydroids unless you have treated your macro algaes for them already.

Where did you get her from? How many others do you have? What type of set up are you keeping them in?

the tank is 5 gallons and I have two Hippocampus zostrae.

That dwarf looks enormous next to the Botryocladia (the macroalgae), unless its a very small form red grape. I'm thinking its not a true dwarf, H. zosterae. Maybe something else?

Samala, I was going to suggest the same. It looks like a juvenile of some sort; maybe H. reidi or H. kuda? Those are just wild guesses though.

How big is she? less than 1.5'' its probably H. zosterae. Hydroids are a type of "jellyfish" to be simple that can free float, swim, or attach themselves to anything. Then can be harmful to H. zosterea b/c they are so small and can steal their food, almost every tank has them. dwarf tanks especially have them because the large amounts of BBS are perfect food for them, so you have to be carful and make sure they arent causing problems. You can get a medication for hydroids or can try freshwater dips. Eleminating them is very difficult, though because they can be present in BBS eggs. Hope this helps.

one is about a half inch and the other is about .75 inch
I am going to do some research on hydriod medication thanks for the help. Also I put a fan over my tank to help with the temp and it seems to be evaporating the wAter really fast.

yep, probably dwarfs.
There is only one hydroid med. and it kills everything except the dwarfs and nassarius snails (not sure if it affects macroalge)
I woul get a top off kit, try aquahub.com you can make a complete top-off system for about $35

You can use panacur against hydroids. Its a dog de-wormer, I believe. You'll want to use it in low doses. Sometimes it kills inverts, sometimes it doesn't. Here is a good thread on dosage and what is affected http://forum.seahorse.org/index.php?showtopic=7702&hl=panacur

Thanks everyone!!! I am moving at the end of this month and I am thinking of building a 10 gallon hex to house my horses. The auto top off is a great idea. I am sure I will be asking lots of questions when I do my change Thanks Again

Do they have a 5g hex? I had a few dwarfs in a 10g and it was way to big, it took 30 minutes to feed them twice a day, b/c it took so long to direct the bbs to them.

a top off kit is a great, inexpensive idea, all the instructions come with the kit and its a very easy DIY

Pretty horses, I am thinking you have some babies of a larger species. Color and shape does not really look like any of the Dwarfs I have seen. I currently have 3 and there is just a different look at this point. How much did you pay for them and do you know where the person got them from? If from a local fish store then they are probably not dwarfs. What are they eatting? If they grow fast in the next few weeks they are someting different.
