hi guys.i have a small problem.my ro system is in the basement for easy access to my large sump.but i now have a smaller tank upstairs and i have get about 15 gallons of water up 1 flight of stairs, once a week.i have been putting the water into a rubbermaid garbage can with 2 wheels and draging it up the stairs.not fun.is there an easier way to do this.your help will save my back:)

You can put a tee in your RO line add another length of tubing and roll it up the stairs into another small mixing drum with a separate float, basically using the house pressure to push the water. I don't know if this would be more of a hassle or not with kids and such. I was thinking pull the mixing drum out the night before turn the RO on and in the morning have a drum of water.

3 or 4 five-gallon buckets. That's what I use, but I only do waterchanges about once a month.

Lowes has some nice ones with measurement markings on the side and foam on the handle for comfortable grip.

Alternatives: Dumb-waiter, sentient-waiter, or high-head pump.

Actually, I'm not certain 45 psi would be enough. My RO membrane requires something like 35 psi to pass water thru it. So depending on how you try to set it up, you could find yourself very close to the minimum requirement.

Additionally, there are benefits to physical activity. Or so I'm told. :)

Put the tank in the basement :lmao: :hammer: :spin2:

j/k - I would think your house pressure would be able to push the RO upstairs. The actual voume/weight of the water travelling through the RO line is not that much, so IMO you'd be just fine.

water has a head of only .433 per foot of elevation, so even if you need to go 20 feet high you would only need about 8.66 psi to get there

Yeah, but its three trips, and billford might be lazy like me:D
The get a gold fish, I heard there less water to Carey!:p

i have one of those hoses that you hook up to your sink to siphon the water out of the tank and then I bought a barbed 1/2" fitting for my mag drive. I have 2 trashcans in the basement. One with saltwater, 1 with RO/DI, so whether it's a water change or a top off I just plug the magdrive in an away we go. I do have 2 magdrives I just let them in the trash cans, and the hose has a ball valve on the other end so you can turn the pump on with the valve closed, drag it upstairs and fill up. No mess and my mag 5's do great for 1 story up.

I have two 7gallon containers from walmart. Every few weeks i gotta carry 14gallons of water up two flights to my apartment. 7gallons of saltwater for water changes and 7gallons rodi for top off. It blows.

Have no advice for yah unfortunately, just take comfort in you arent alone lol

Either tee-off like mentioned, or get yourself a 5gal plastic gascan.
Much easier to carry than a full bucket, won't splash if you stumble, and won't beat up your leg.
