Transporting Fish Questions?

Hey guys, tomorrow I may be finally emptying out the African Cichlid tank and turning it into a reef. I obviously need to get rid of the fish and they will be going on about a 15-20 minute drive. I do not have any fish bags...Do you think it would be ok to just put them in a bucket with water and hold it securely during the drive? I know this is not the best option, but I do not know what other options I have! Thanks! Any other input is definitely welcome!

I don't think that would be a problem. I carted my eel in a bucket for about 1 1/2 hours. He's been fine here for about 8 months.

It shouldn't be any different moving fish that way. Although, I have to admit I don't know a whole lot about fresh water fish.

They'll be Ok in a bucket, but make sure it's covered. Old salt buckets with a lid are good. Don't seal them completely though.

ps: This is my fifth community service post of the day. I am on probation due to excessive posting in the 'ignore' thread.
