Transporting tank

I am working on a deal to buy a complete 90rr that has been running for 6 yrs....what is the safest way for me to transport all this and not kill anything

The majority of this is softies...Ton of mushrooms 2 huge leathers stuff like that.

I have 2 major concerns:
1.there are 7 BT anemones in the tank what is the best method of transporting them? I will more than likely sell a few of them and probably the majority of the softies to make room for SPS.

2. Since the tank is RR I will have to remove the sandbed that is 6 yrs old...should I ditch it and add a new SB or bucket it up and when I get home rinse it really well?

I plan on bring back as much water from the tank as I can..hopefully 1/2 or more and will have a bunch ready when I get back.

Any advice on this?

with the weather being so cold. would get a van run the heat on high all pointing to the back. i would also use styrofoam coollers help keep the temp. and for the sand i would inse it with tank water the best you can do. but if you can aford it i would get new sand you will have a small cycling time becuase of this.

I would say the softies will be fine unless just straight up left in the cold. They're tough. The anemones may be a bit more sensitive, but like Zef said, keep the heat high and transport them in large styrofoam coolers. Keep their exposure to outside as brief as possible (obviously :) ). Coolers do wonders for sustaining the temps.

If I were you, I'd have something that can sustain the corals and animals for at least a day or three. Have enough water made so that you can fill this system up with as much of the existing tank water as possible, then make up the rest with new water. I would plan on putting everything into this system until you can get the big tank setup. Doesn't have to be anything fancy... it can be anything from the styrofoam coolers to rubbermaid bins. Just make sure each one you use has circulation and heat. This system will give you a day or two or three to really setup the 90g the way you want/need to without threatening the life of the animals. I've done this when I needed to completely change an overflow on my last tank. Everything stayed in our extra bedroom for two days. Since it was so short, I didn't worry about lights either. I just put all of the corals in the styrofoam cooler with circulation and a heater, half of my rocks and inverts in a rubbermaid bin with circulation and a heater, and fish and the rest of my rocks in another rubbermaid bin with circulation and a heater. I just used the water out of my tank so there was no acclimation. Worked great!

Sorry... that's a bit long winded. :) When it comes to this stuff, just do what makes sense. In this case, its simply keeping the animals warm and trying to keep any changes for them to a minimal, while still being able to setup the tank the way you want to and need to without having to rush because the animals are waiting on ya. :)

I just found out that My brother-in-law got rid of the Vehicle that I was gonna use to move the tank (Full Size suburban)....No one in my family has anything big enough to move the tank or won't give up the time it would take to move it and I refuse to rent a van for one day....this may not happen after all.

I think someone is trying to tell me something...lol (Build Bad 40b and be done).
