Treasure Coast Corals

I heard through "word of mouth" that there is a new local reef store in Vero Beach called Treasure Coast Corals. Have any of you checked them out yet? I'm planning on making a trip there tomorrow night, Tuesday, to maybe get some more frags for my tank.

I am just making sure it's worth the trip. I'm desperately looking for a white pearl bubble, bright neon green frogspawn, golden birdsnest, and some really colorful zoanthids.

I am also looking for some colorful acans.

the first I've ever heard of them is in a reply post to coraljunkys last post here. i googled them and they have a facebook page you can check out. If you haven't checked out AquaScene Aquatics, you should. A lot of nice frags at great prices. They're on US1 in PSL by the bowling alley.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I will certainly check them out. Oh and thank you for a beautiful hammer coral. It's opening up nicely today. It's not all the way open yet but I'm hoping that by tomorrow it will be.

The new owner of AquaScene Aquatics really turned that place around. He's redone the store and has some really great looking corals for great prices. I grabbed a green birdsnest frag, a red ultra acan frag, and a nice sized, long skirt eagle eye zoanthid frag, all for $40. Thank you very much for the recommendation.

I'm still going to Vero in a couple days. I'm really anxious to see that aquaculture facility in person. I will post an update on this thread once I pay them a visit.

weve got a guy right around the corner from us on leonard road by jennings road. its called aquatek, dudes store is a little on the small side but he is very knowledgeable and his prices are fair from what ive seen, cheaper than aquatic life anyways.

Everyone's cheaper than Aquatic Life. I don't like downing places but I really don't like that place at all.

Not just the prices but I see dead stuff in their tank almost every time I go in there.

Fintastics is great in Jensen Beach and the one I mentioned above is good as well.

I'll be checking out the one in Vero soon. I'll let all of you know unless you get there before me.

I finally had a chance to drive up to Vero and check out Treasure Coast Corals. I was very impressed. Their facility looks great and their corals and frags were gorgeous! They had a ton of variety and the prices were reasonable.

I mentioned our reef club and the owner offered to let us have the next club meeting at his facility. It's a little far but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Its an option.

If you're looking for corals, frags or mother colonies, it's worth the trip.

i was in fintastics in jensen today, they have a nice selection of corals and they also have a lot of very nice ten dollar fragments. they also had these awesome clams, do you guys think clams are possible in a 14 gallon biocube?

Did you talk to Jon? He's contacted me recently about helping to start up a club in the Treasure Coast. He seems very excited and supportive of having a group around here. Randy (Daimyo) and I are heading up there tomorrow. Glad to know it's worth the trip!

The stock lighting in a biocube isn't enough to keep clams. I started with a 29 gal biocube, realized there wasn't enough light in it, so i did nanotuners upgrade which added 2 more PC lights to it. That was fine for a while, but then i took the hood off and picked up a nice MH light for it. I only wish i had skipped spending the $200 on nanotuners upgrade and went straight for the MH.

what is involved with upgrading the lights, is it as easy as changing the bulbs? maybe i could keep a clam higher on the rocks closer to the light or is it totally the wrong kind of light?

I had to rip everything out of the hood and rearrange everything in there. Like i said, i think you can get a better light with a MH and save $$ over doing the upgrade.

ive got a friend with a cool mini one sitting around after a project he worked on. youre right though, that is some yellow light i didnt think about that. mh is more in the blue spectrum i suppose?

Take 95 to SR 60 - The Vero Beach exit.

Take SR 60 East to the first light which is 90th. Make a right and then make another right at the first street. I think it's American, Americano, or Americana. You'll see a sign righ there with an arrow telling you to turn right. Then, it's right there on your left. Tell 'em SaltSolutions1 sent ya.
