Treat all wild caught clowns?

I just purchased two wc Clarkii Clowns. The store got them in Thursday and I took them home yesterday. I was thinking of taking preventative measures and giving them a formalin bath tomorrow instead of waiting for signs of Brooklynella to show up. So many of the clowns that I have seen in other stores have signs of Brook and I don't want to take any chances with these beautiful fish. After dipping them they will be in quarantine for several weeks and treated with the tank transfer method to eradicate any possible ich.

Does anyone treat without any signs of disease?

IME, mostly with chrysopterus clowns, there's not much you can do with diseased clowns. If they are breathing normally and eating I would say you're pretty much in the clear. If not, try treatment but expect the worse. Good news is clarkiis are far hardier than chrysopterus.

I'd suggest as a good rule of thumb, quarantine any new fish before adding it to your main display.

They are fine now but I thought there is still a good chance they were exposed to Brook since so many of them are. Would it be wise to treat now as if they had the disease instead of waiting until they're in a weakened state?

Usually I observe my fish and only treat when necessary but I never had to deal with Brook before.

I appreciate the advice to quarantine my fish but I know that and I do quarantine all my fish. I was hoping someone would answer my question regarding giving them a formalin bath even if they do not show any signs of Brooklynella.

Thanks Marina. I have Prazipro and I will treat them. Do you have any other advice for me?

I have a feeling that these fish were not shipped straight in. They eat pellets already and even eat from the surface of the water. From my experience it takes fish some time to recognize pellets as food and to learn to eat from te surface. All of the fish from this particular store looked healthy. Maybe their supplier holds onto them for a bit to be sure they're healthy? Regardless, so far so good. I am in love with these fish : )
