Treating Cyano with clams.

Is it safe to use Red Slime Remover with a juvi Maxima clam in my tank? I'm concerned it will kill the beneficial bacteria in it.

Have you tried phosphate remover?

Phosphates are undetecable with SeaChem test kit.

Maybe they're getting sucked up by the cyano and plant algae at a rate that they become undetectable. Is there a lot of cyano in the tank and fuge?

that stuff shouldnt bother the clam. use chemi-clean rather than the red slime eliminator- its cheaper and more effecient. ps- it will only be a temp fix- youll need to get the other source nutrients under control.

or a phos sponge in the sump.

Tridacnids house zooxanthellae which are dinoflagellates, not bacteria or cyanobacteria. It shouldn't have any effect on it as far as that goes.

I used chemi-clean a few weeks ago and my clams are fine.

I used red slime remover a few times over a year ago and all my clams are stil happy!
