Hows it going? I just moved and set up my tank again.....all new equipment and just the live rock from previous tank.....everything is stable and my last piece of equipment is in the mail so now it is off to stocking-----

MY QUESTION---After all the time and money spent changing this tank over to an SPS dominated tank(probably nothing but acros....a couple of clams and a slight mayble on a couple of monti's) i dont want to get all my frags and have them infested with AEFW or red bugs that i didnt know i had because i didnt keep SPS in the last setup....Should i treat the tank now while it has nothing but LR and my 2 fish for these pests...that way i know it wasnt from before?...I do plan on dipping every peice that comes into my tank.

Also....i know interceptor for redbugs...but has anyone had any success meaning no AEFW with any treatments or dips?

I am not saying i think i have pests..but i am wondering if i should treat it to be sure before adding frags

WHAT WOULD YOU DO AND WHY

Aefw and Red Bugs live off the acros, if you didn't have acros before, than the Red Bugs (if you ever had any) would be dead in 5 days without a host.

I would not treat your empty tank, just the incoming frags ;)

Just did alot more research after the start of the thread and read that after 5 days the bugs die with no host(and only host acros) so that is good news IMO...sounds alot easier than the fish bugs like ich who have a much more complex and durable life cycle.

not gonna treat the tank after reading up more(i should read more before i post)
