Treating zoanthids

I know I'm not the only one with this problem and I've looked at the information that other people are getting about the zoanthids they have. This coral was doing great for almost a month then last week it started to close up. It had a brown film on it so I did a 4 minute dip in a 2:1 peroxide dip. It seemed to clean off the brown film but its coming back as some of the polyps are opening back up. I have 2 frogspawn, anemone, clams, leathers, and other zoanthids that are all doing good. This colony and a few other are just not doing the best and are my newest additions.

I know my Calcium is 440 ppm, Mg 1500 ppm, and alkalinity is 10 dkH. My Mg is high because I was treating for bryopsis algae that took over. My water change water is 1350 ppm so its taking a while to come down from 1850 ppm. I only have API test kits for everything else and they test fine. I have salifert test kits that will be in Tuesday so I will retest and post results. I run carbon and Phosguard in my media baskets. Just last week I started running a reactor with bio-pellets. I have two Koralia Nano 425 on a wave maker and the return pumps are two Maxijets 1200. I have a MP10 on the way to increase my flow some. The aquarium is JBJ 45 rimless with around 100w full spectrum LEDs on it. Aquatic Life mini skimmer 115 that pulls about a full cup of a medium amber junk a week.

Any thoughts on how to reclaim these little beauties.

Close up of zoanthids today

This is the same coral in the top right on March 1st when it first started to have a few closed polyps.

+2 Zoa Pox for sure,,get Furan 2 ASAP,,,,treat three days on 4 days off..retreat if ness...
Zoaid.com is a Pox is good website to see the actual treatment protocall..
Heres the best artical you can read on Zoa pox,,time is of the essance,,,,,http://www.zoaid.com/articles004.php

Im battling the same pox you are,,its been going on for 1.5 weeks and just looked at tanks with lights off with flashlight and still got some zoas with the pox,,so my battle isnt done yet either...it wouldny hurt to do the surrounding ones too,,its probably in the water unfortunately..
Im trying to find the fix to this mess myself..

Is the Furan-2 going to absorb into the rock and leak back into my system. I have clams, anemone and all sorts of things.

after the treatment time,,pick up rock and let as much furan water drip off as you can for a minute or two, just put in new saltwater for alittle while swishing the water around gently,,then let them sit there for 5-10 minutes,,then pickup zoa rock and let as much water drip off you can get for a minute or two ,then put back in tank...the artical says to put zoa in a spot with more current in the tank.. it really sucks this happens but if you dont do the treatment then possibly the infection gets more wide spread and there probably is a point of no return for them if you dont treat too..
If you have a seperate quarenteen tank,,then thats probably the best place to keep them after the furan dips until its cured would be best..

That mini skimmer isn't really big enough for your tank either.. I would look into an upgrade. That's the same skimmer I had on my 29 and it worked decently until the pump went out. Upgraded to a hydor slim skim and the difference was pretty amazing. Even emptying the cup is easier.

2 more treatments and rest for 4 days,,,hopefully you get it cure in one round of Furan 2 dips..

What you can do to help as well is popping the little pox. There like pimples. Now I'm not sure what to do after but I just rinsed them in an iodine bath, rinsed off in water changes water and then back in the tank.

Do you have to mix up new medication everyday or can you just use the same batch from day to day? I just floated my container of furan 2 mix in my salt mix bucket with the heater on so it stayed the same temp as the reef.

New batch of Furan 2 everyday,,,Furan 2 degrades over time and light weakens the strength,,most cases using Furan 2 ,,they recommend keeping lights off if your treating a fish for bacterial issues in which you treat the quarenteen tank for a number of days,,sorry but you have to mix a new batch every time to treat zoa pox,,I know all about how much furan cost to do the treatments Ive been doing..

Everyone loves the rainbows but you have to put with the rain, per say..LOLOL

I used the same mix today from yesterday. It was kept in the dark and at the same temp. I will mix new for tomorrow when I do it. Should I still just stay with the 3 day treatment??

yep,,,do three and off for 2 ,,then go three again..hopefully its cured..that what Im doing now,,but I have probaly 15 plus colonies to do,,its a 2.5 hour plus ordeal each treatment plus going throughv fresh salt water too ..
