Treatment for my clowns

So I finally got my sump set up and am getting ready to treat my clowns. They are both eating well, but have white stringy poop, and are starting to show some signs of tail/fin rot (they are having streaks of no color on their fins, both dorsal, pectoral, and tail), and one has started scratching. So I wanted to run my plan by you guys and see if anyone has any other suggestions

1. I have set up a 2-3 gallon hospital tank with a few pieces of PVC, a heater and a small power head. right now the SG is about equal to the display tank, and a sponge filter thats been running on display tank for about 1 month.

2. I will place the clowns in this tank and start to lower to SG to .009. (confirmed by refractometer) and will raise the temp to about 81-82.

3. I will set up a bucket and do a formalin dip to help rid some of the internal parasites. i will do this per the instructions on the bottle of Quick-cure. I think it recommends 2-3 treatments over 6-7 days.

4. Then place back in hospital tank and continue feeding with mysis, formula one, and cyclopeeze (all supplemented with selcon)

Does this sound like a good plan? Anyone have another suggestion? Also, If I dip them in formalin and then put them back in the hospital tank, will the residual formalin on them kill the bio-filter in the sponge filter I will have on the tank? Also after their treatment and QT is done and they go back into the display, after chucking the sponge from the filter, can I still use the filter, or is it forever destined for QT/hospital use?

thanks guys!
