I have an m-tank right now with a trickle filter set up, Im wondering if I should keep the trickle filter in or would it be better to convert it to a refugium
the pump i have will sit in the bottom of the refugium, should I build a acrylic box around it, or just set it on top of the sand bed. Also what would you recommend puttig in the refugium
No matter what a fuge is the way to go. You can build a box around it or put it into a plastic jar with some holes cut into it. You don't want the sand and plant life to get caught up in it.
You won't be sorry it was the single best addition to my tank.
Build a box around the "return pump" area...the water will flow over the top and in to the area for the return pump...like was already said, you want the sand and plant life kept out of the pump or it will fowl up your pump to say the least...
A refugium is definitely the way to go...it will help to filter the water for you...
