Hi there fellow reefers. I havent been in for awhile. but I got a new question that I have encounter yet, Are all triggers reef safe? I am baby sitting 3 triggers and 5" Puffer for a friend and I may have to adopt them into my 150gal reef tank. Tank is 2 years mature and only contain 5 fish. tank is a mix reef with sps, lps and lots of zoos and ricordias. Two of the trigger is 3" and the other is 5". also, I am baby sitting a 5" puffer. are they reef safe too?

Fish currently in 150 mix reef.

There are two or three triggers that are generally considered reef safe so youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll have to expand on what type you have. Many people have tried to put both fish in a reef tank and itââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s been hit or miss with them. However if you have any inverts they're going to make a tasty snack for those fish.

Wow. ok I currenlty have 3 cleaner shrimps and a banded shrimp. Will the trigger harm them. the Trigger am babysitting is 5" black with a hint of blue/ purple, and the other two trigger are white with yellow, blue strips. the Puffer has spike all over him. How well do they do in reef tanks? thx

Most triggers go after snails and shrimp. They need a way to grind down thier teeth. That puffer is probably a spiny box puffer and it too will go after inverts and slow moving fish.
