triggers and acrylic tanks?

I have read that you can't mix the 2 because triggers like to scratch and take chunks out of the acrylic. Is this true?

atm i have a glass 210g and I am upgrading to an 250g+ acrylic tank which means I would have to get rid of my queen trigger.

My humu used to be in my 90g acrylic and he didn't do any damage to the tank.

I have a 240 acrylic with 3 triggers and they do fine. The only problem that I have is when the cleaning nails leave slim on the sides of the tank, the humu goes an picks at it until it is gone. So if you don't have snails you should be ok. Oh, I have a clown, niger and humu trigger fish in the tank. I might add a assasi or a blue jaw soon.

The one thing you have to look out for with the large triggers is the rearrangement of the rockwork. At times they'll start moving rocks around, and the things they knock over might fall against the aquarium and cause pretty bad scratches.

I have a large Queen Trigger in a acrylyc tank and no scratches.I would just make sure the rocks are big enough so he cannot move them like Wolverine said.My huge Golden Puffer on the other hand has put tons of scratches in it by biting at the tank.

I don't think I'd try acrylic either. My XXXL Queen bites at the glass in my tank and she slings good sized rocks around like toys. If she were in acrylic it wouldn't be pretty. Actually I am worried about mine busting the glass one day when she has one of her moods.

I would be more worried about her breaking the glass then the scratches.

I also would much rather deal with scratches then brokes glass especially considering how the triggers like to rearrange stuff. Mostly that is the more agressive & big triggers that do that.

I have also seen triggers go after the silicone in the corners which makes for a wonderfull mess.
