trimming caulerpa the right way?

Hi folks, I was wondering, what is the right way to trim caulerpa? Cutting the top layer or just any where? I don't want it to go sexual and spread into the display. thanks

The main thing is to make a clean snip, if possible- pinching works, pulling/yanking indiscriminately creates problems. Getting rid of a large bunch at a time works well.

Depending upon your sump design (and caulerpa species), it tends not to get in the main display unless a frond escapes up the return. Taxifolia and grape caulerpa are harder to monitor; ime they just wind up all over.

I just grab out big handfuls. In my refugia I let it grow until it is a fairly tight packed mass, then I take out about half to a third of it. :)
