TRip bring back coral ????

Can you bring that stuff through customs? I don't think you legally can, can you? What would they do with the corals if they found them on you, toss them?

Yeah, I don't think you'll have any luck. I wanted to do the same thing in japan but it's illegal for one thing and also customs is so tight now. Last time I came back to the US I had all my bags looked through by customs and they confiscated a bunch of my food I brought back.

To get it through customs you almost have to have it shipped to you from Australia. Very expensive. The only way you can carry on is with the proper permits from both Australia and the US government and they are not easy to coordinate. If you do decide to smuggle anything back please bring me a set of wild caught black ocellaris clowns. If you can find 3 or more pairs you could have you whole trip paid for... :p

Actually the Autralian government is very strict on the export of any wild life. That is fish, birds, corals, etc. However it can be done if you work with an Australian exporter.

The basic thing to do is when your there contact one of the live stock exporters. They will handle your shipment from that end as well as find a transhipper in the US that is liscensed to walk your shipment through customs on the US side (ususlly LAX).

Cost wise I'm not sure what it will cost you. However when doing this on a regular bases a standard box of fish used to total around $40.00 for shipping and handling. However when we were doing this we were shipping a minimium of 20 boxes every week on contract.

The other thing good about working with a liscensed shipper on there end is they will know what you can and cannot ship, as well as where to get what you want at the best price. Some times you can just give them a list of would like to gets and they will fill it for you to the best of there ability. Note many items are seasonable, and subject to strict Australian rationing laws, as well as banned for shipment lists.

No I did not know was going to check into it tomorow.
Not to declare a item would be a bad move.
This is my second trip there. I'm still going to check into it.
If I can bring any thing back legally I will post a msg here.
