Richard, I can’t say enough. I know I was a little bummed, but I got over it in anticipation of today. You outdid yourself. My pal Peter, the marine biologist and who does aquariums for a living was so impresses that he sat on a stool in front of the tank for 15 minutes when we (he) were finished. He couldn’t believe how alive everything was and the incredible variety/selection of your choices. We did rinse some of the first rocks and got the stone crab and the mullet-head-gorilla (and about 25 of his closest friends!). No mantis, but I had stopped hearing it (I think Picasso got him). We did get some crabs off the second shipment and I am sure I will have more in time, but I’ll deal with it.
I am going to post this at RC and will go heads-up with the nay-sayers. Best of luck on your trip. (don’t know if you forgot the sand or didn’t think I needed it, but that’s OK-fine). If I do decide to do a second tank for the Picasso, I can do phoney sand for now and get some from you when you get back. Here is a before (with shipment1) and after (with all the good (I mean great)) stuff.

You really did a job that far surpasses anything else I have seen.

My pleasure ... I meant every one of them ... by the time you get back, I might be ready for some coral or something... I test (full) the water every day and am learning a lot (sometimes my brain is full!) ... Enjoy ... I sure am ... (the curse is lifted!)

More kudos for Richard!

More kudos for Richard!

I just wanted to say thank you to Richard.
Also, I have had no die-off of my macros, etc.... I know there is die-off, but I did not see a huge die-off like you would expect from macro covered rock you would get from the LFS.
I now have two nano-sized tanks with both of them running nothing but TBS rock in them. I actually had to buy a baby yellow tang to keep up with the macro algae growth in my one tank!
I have been in the hobby for about 20 years. I decided that this time I was going to follow the advice and directions that Richard gave me, either personally or on the TBS website.
I followed EVERYTHING to a TEE! I did exactly as Richard advised; never missing a step or "modifying" his advice.
IT WORKED PERFECTLY!
In my tank that has been running TBS rock for 6 weeks now, I have ZERO ammonia, ZERO nitrites and nearly no nitrates! The macros are doing the job!
As for the unwanted critters, I have gotten mantis shrimp, pistol shrimp and all sorts of nasty little bugs from LFS rock before. I have not had to "hunt" any bad critters yet. I got rid of one big gorilla crab when he came out to steal food from my condi but all I had to do was to grab him out. He pinched me but hey, I am a big strong man. I can handle a little ugly crab with an attitude! :)
No mantis or pistol shrimp yet. One big gorilla crab. A couple little stone crabs. That is it.
Just remember; FOLLOW RICHARD'S DIRECTIONS and you cannot go wrong. He makes it simple. Why complicate things? I figure Richard has been doing this stuff for a living for 20 years now. He knows what works and what does not work for his rock.
I give Richard two thumbs up!
