Triton Elementz Method

I have a 500 gallon system. I have been using a modified Triton method. I am keeping my calcium reactor online even though trition does not recommend it. I have had good success with dialing my ca reactor down and dosing a minimal amount of base elements to keep my alk stable at 8. I am getting decent results in coral color and growth. I also don't do water change often. Maybe every six months. I like keeping the system stable.

huge refugium full of algae, I also dose a carbon source Red Sea NoPox to help bring nitrates down.
Anyone else trying the triton method?

Me. My current tank was set up in January, most inhabitants come from my previous tank.

I filled the system with NSW and moved the old rocks, corals and fish to the new tank together with some old sand.

I have tried quite some things the last 25 years and I must say I am impressed with the Triton method. I use their base elementz and some of the extra elementz (mainly the 'exotic' ones such as vanadium, lithium and molybdenum) because I have access to the more common ones such as strontium, zinc, iodine, boron and manganese together with a very sensitive scale that measures up to the milligram. I also use their tests. Elementz are added using a dosing pump. The extra elements have their own dosing pump.

Equipment: Bubble King 200, RD 10.000 l/h return pump, 3 Orphek Atlantik fixtures and a Maxpect Gyre for extra current in the main tank. The total system volume is slightly over 600 litres. The tank is an in wall tank, the tank and equipment are located in another room. In the living room, only the front window is visible, together with a framing which also hides a door to enable maintenance from the front as well.

I was just reading about it because of another post. Sounds very interesting. how long has this product/method been around?

Its the latest modern age 'Snake Oil Bandwagon' designed for people who are too willing to spend money and too lazy to do water changes/tests, in my opinion.
Green hair algae anyone?

I see that som people using Triton in the UK report outbreaks of hair algae. Wondering why this happens

Yea the hair algae story is true. Seems like all the triton products contain some kind of 'fertilizer' to boost the ability to grow healthy macro. Unless you have a lot of light on your fuge the this can lead to outbreaks in the display. I am currently battling Cyano, bubble algae and GHA since starting the triton method 2 months ago! My buddy runs a ULNS zeovit system and dosed some triton strontium and potassium and has had an outbreak of bubble aldae since as well.

Wow this is crazy. did you stop the triton method? I have good growth of macro algae in refugium. But i do see algae in my main display. On rock...look like green turf. Dont aee many threads about this method on RC. Wondering why it is not discussed much here.

No im still using the method, I do believe it could work well. ill be upgrading my skimmer and fuge light this week hopefully. I will do a few water changes here and there. It has shown the short comings in my system. But as for the dosing method, it is a breeze. Dose same amount of the 3 liquids and check alk. Very easy to keep things stable

Super Nice !!!
Off topic but.. I have two Atlantik fixtures over my 180 approx 13 inches from the water surface and the tank is 24 inches deep.
What do you run your Atlantiks at per channel? Thanx

Straight up newbie starting with a 500 gallon tank. I could not resist the price. ( two of my employees are experienced reefers)

To me it makes perfect sense. I live on the east coast of Florida, so I am going to do NSW and proceed slowly.

I have noticed that old school rules on this forum. I am extremely interested in hearing about any experienced Triton users out there.
