Trying to get Xenia to move to another rock

So I have one rock that has a few stalks of xenia on it. I would like to be able to move a stalk or two unto a couple small rocks where I could take them into the LFS for some credit towards something else. What's the easiest way to do this? Is it as easy as taking a small rock and leaning it up against one of the stalks and giving it a couple days or will that not work?

LOL I have a feeling you will regret this soon. These things spread like fire.

Your idea is correct. You want to put a small rock very close to one of the stalks and maybe target feed that stalk and in a few days it would have started and maybe even completed his migration to the new rock.

Make sure that the new piece of rock is on the opposite side of the flow. i.e. where the flow is pushing the Xenia against the rock.

Good luck and be careful with this coral, it can quickly overwhelm other corals and take over your tank if left unchecked.

I use a pair of tweezers and grab low on the stalk and pull, I have never lost one yet. I do this about every 4 months. I rubber band them to some rubble rock, they take hold of the rock in a few day's.
