TSUNAMI WARNING: 9105 in action…WOW!!

MarcoPolo

The new 9105 hit the shelves in Brussels (Belgium) this week and needless to say I bought my one first thing on Saturday morning. When I got home, I was “arrogant” in thinking that my 150 gallons tank could easily handle the new arrival, so I mounted the 9105 half way down the depth of the tank, pointing upwards (like my other nanostreams), and on full power. When I switched it on…my face got covered in water from the tank and so did the surrounding floor! People who are not aquarist like us will probably not understand this…but I was smiling after getting the wave front in my face as I knew that I don’t need to worry any more about good water circulation in my tank! After connecting the 9105 to my 7095 wave controller, slightly adjusted the orientation, and reduced power, I just stood back and watched huge controlled wave motions in the tank…amazing! The water movement the 9105 can generate makes all my other Tunze pumps look like small toys in comparison. When it pulses the first time it propagates an incredible wave motion throughout the tank, and then every square inch of surface water vibrates generating small waves like in the real ocean. I’m really pleased of this new addition. Sometime soon I will post a summary of my “MarcoPolo” project, with pictures of my fish to reef tank conversion which â€"œ with a few small exceptions (e.g. lighting) - is powered my Tunze equipment. Stay tuned and …for those of you thinking of buying a 9105, would suggest you also buy a towel to wipe your face

yes - apologies to all, its a 6105 not a 9105 (obviously the tsunami caused some ill effects on my keyboard typing skills, or perhaps the vodka I'm using in the aquarium accidentally finished in my blood stream! hihi), and yes Scott...w/o pics ain't the same thing! The good news is that the "MarcoPolo Project (that's how I named my aquarium project) is being worked on, and some time soon I will post a complete review of the project (powered by Tunze) including tons of pictures :)

I had (and still use w/ the new 6105) 1x7240, 1x6025, 1x6055, 1x7095, plus Wavebox. With this set-up the the circulation in the tank is excellent, and the water is getting crystal clear by the day...

6105 is out???? Thought they are going to be out only in Oct/ nov??

Mmmm going to get my Tunze distributor online now :)

Wauw, now I'm really looking forward to recieving mine :) I ordered 2 for my 100 gallons, sounds like it will be plenty of circulation :)

Herzberg, I'm sure you will not regret. Do you also have the wavecontroller? I use the wavecontroller to generate alternating currents in the tank in addition to the oscillating movement with the Wavebox - the combination is great. It's great fun observing my Picasso Triggerfish happily 'ondulating' when not swimming. I hope to post some pictures of my set-up some time soon.

MArco> Yes I have the 7095 multicontroller. Currently I have 2 x 6055 and 2 x 6025 modded, I'm hoping to replace them all with the 6105's.

Which settings are you using on your multicontroller?

I have the 6055 and 7240 on one channel, and the 6105 on the other and using 'interval 1' option with ~1.5minutes interval. The 6105 is pointing in the opposite directions of the 6055 & 7240. This way I can generate alternating currents which last enough to move detritus both ways to the overflow (As my tank is big, I need some time to generate sufficient momentum in the tank to generate a good water circulation). But I still need to fine tune...
