TTM start time and Prazi

When purchasing new fish, when do you start the TTM and when do you treat with Prazi?

I followed the TTM with my most recent fish but waited until they showed signs of such. I'm wondering if I can start right away. If so Prazi would immediately follow. Or is there a better timed procedure?

I've been doing some background research and it seems everyone has their own method so I may get multiple suggestions to my question. Some wait a week or two then start with Prazi, do the TTM, then another round of Prazi. Some do CP first then only TTM if signs of ich are present. Some don't treat with meds at all. Similar disjointed approaches which were the results of a poll I conducted not long ago asking when do people treat for ich.

Maybe a better question to ask is, if you use the TTM do you start upon first receiving the fish, use some form of medication before TTM or wait until seeing signs of ich before TTM?

Like you said, you'll probably get variations on a theme. I usually give a new acquisition several days to get acclimated before starting treatment. Sometimes this can last more than a week for more sensitive species. Once they are acclimated and eating well, I start them on a regimen of Prazipro - two doses 7 days apart with a water change in between. After Prazi, I do TTM followed by an additional 1-2 week observational period. I do this for all new acquisitions - I don't wait for symptoms to appear for flukes or crypto.

Some do TTM then Prazi, and some dose Prazi during TTM. I like keeping the variables down, so I do one treatment at a time. Again, YMMV.

My qt method is drip acclimate fish from qt water then straight into a 30-50 min formalin bath. After that straight into tank number 1 for TTM (which counts as the first day). Feed them as much as they will eat and dose prazi on 2nd TT and on 4th TT. You want to give them clean water (non-medicated) on the 3rd TT. Depending on how you feel and how the fish are acting, I normally do formalin baths in between tank transfers since the LFS that I got the fish from seem to carry brook. After that it's 3-4 weeks of observation in the QT. My method may be a bit harsh on the fish, but I really don't want to go through another DT fallow period.

I start TTM right from the LFS's bag. Match salinity to the bag, float for 10 minutes to temp acclimate, then dump in my first TTM tank.

I have seen people using prazipro during TTM, but that just doesn't make sense to me. Prazi is supposed to be a weekly dose, yet one TTM only lasts 72 hours or less. What I do is just go through normal TTM(raising salinity by .01 each time if need be to match my DT), then when the fish are done with TTM and go into a QT, I start 2 rounds of prazipro separated by one week in between, with the week in between being any other medication if need be. This method hasn't failed me yet.

Prazi stays active in solution for about 72 hours, so that's why people combine it with the 1st and 3rd transfer.
