Tube Anemone Help?!

I had gotten a tube anemone from a friend of mine becuase his tank started to leak. I have never had one before and am not sure if it was in that great of shape in his tank. Is there away to tell if its dead? Also When I placed it in my tank I just buried it in the sand is there any other things I need to think about when positioning it in my tank? Any care information about it would be great as well!

I've had one for 5 years and found its care is minimal. Medium flow, and it's in the center of my tank with dual 150w halides. He was just as happy when I had the PC fixture I started out with. I target feed mysis 1-2 times a week, and it grabs flakes and mysis that the fish don't get on its own. I have a friend with 3 and he does the same thing
