Tube-like growth from toadstool

Hey all!
I have a green tip toadstool(not looking so hot from moving) and I have noticed that there is a tube-like extension coming off of it. It has grown over the past two days and I have no idea what it could be. Does anyone knows what this could be and if its bad or good? Also any suggestions on getting this guy perked up again? I am assuming it just needs time to open back up.

That's a worm surrounding itself with a protective case, similar to what a feather duster worm does. If the toadstool doesn't open after a few more days, or looks like its getting worse (or eaten), you may want to remove the worm as a potential predator. Odds are good that the critter is safe, but something to keep an eye on anyhow.
