Does anyone know if the 6105 tunze pumps can be set up to use a battery backup if you are using a apex controller or do you have to use the tunze controller?

You can, but you would need to also have he Apex base module with battery backup as well, since if it loses power, the signal is killed to the pumps and try stop.
