Most skimmers are noisy, especially if it's new or haven't been used for awhile. They quiet down a little after break in, which is usually about 1-2 weeks, but still noisy. That's why I don't use a skimmer in my nano. Purigen/Chemi-pure Elite/Live rock/Chaeto is what I use and my nitrates/nitrites/ammonia ZERO.
