Tunze 9010 Skimmer - Is this the right choice

Hey everyone,
I have pretty much decided that I will be going with the tunze 9010 skimmer. But I wanted to make sure that its the right choice, and I am not missing any other choices.

Here were the factors that are making me choose this skimmer:

  • Fits well within my sump. I am not a fan of water on my floor, so I have made an insump skimmmer a must.

The footprint is really small. I need a small footprint because the 92 corner stands are pretty tight and my sump will only be a 20-25g tank.

Ability to skim well. All reports say these things are really good, and with just adding some mesh (no cutting impeller) it improves even more. This one is rated at about 200g, people have them on their 120 and are very happy.

The quality/customer services. For the people that have had issues,
Tunze is very responsive. (Unlike some of the chinese import companies)

heat/power - The motor on this thing uses less than 30 watts. I was considering the bermuda 3c, but I would have to by a pump that uses 70 watts.

    Ability to skimm well

So is there any other skimmers that I should look at that will mee my needs? My one concern was the fact that they have had a few bad runs. I guess one was the air hole was drilled to big, and another had a bulge in the impeller area.

Thanks for the help.

I have been considering this skimmer as well. I am kinda waiting on the feedback of the ATI BM160

Hmm, I did not see that one that definitely looks like an option.

One note is that Its $200 more

I like that skimmer a lot and almost ordered it. You will see that one or two people don't like it but most do. I decided on a DAS EX-1 skimmer because it uses the same pumps Deltec uses the Aquabee and the mainly because it is recirculating so you don't have to worry about water level so much. But is still like it a lot. The compact size is really nice. Also if you are not happy with it you can always sell a 9010 at not too much of a lost.

Yeah, I was looking at the DAS. It seems like a really good Skimmer. Unfortunately, the size was too big for my future setup. Thanks for the input, and its nice to know that if I do not like it I can recover a decent amount of my investment.

Thanks,
