Well I think that I am pretty happy with the results... The only problem I had start to finish was getting wet when I under estimated the flow this thing was going to put out... I started out just like you did BullDZR... I went to Home Depot and picked up everything you listed on page 1... ( BullDZR DIY MaxiJet Pg. 1 ) little did I know then all I'd be using was the cap(s) for the pvc... I couldn't get any stainless steel at 830 at night so I started to rack my brain... I remembered that I had a Bio Wheel that had been sitting around for at least a year and the rod inside should be long enough to get er' done... On the way home I went to Wallgreens to get some beer and was strolling down the toy Isle when out of the corner of my eye I saw the future.
There was this toy on the shelf that looked like it could solve all my problems... No centering a piece of pvc for the prop... plenty of gaps to avoid sucking air... already has a prop and it is completely enclosed! YA!
When I got it home I took everything apart and grabbed the Bio whell and started to assemble everything as I saw it in my head... I still need some tubing but I had plenty of it lying around... I ended up using some ro/di line (1.5 - 2 inches) and a 3/16 inch piece of thinwall tubing I got from Pest"smart" a while back.
So this is where I was at... If you look at the old turbine from the 600 Maxi I pulled the plastic of both sides and knocked the inner tube out... I then pushed my 3/16 " tube into the magnent. Then I pushed the ro/di tube over that where ther prop would snug up to (leaving 1/4 inch exposed of the 3/16" tube...
As you can see I had to hallow out the prop about 1/4" to fit the tube in side for glueing... I also had to do this with the tube itself to slide the BIO wheel Stainless Steel Rod inside the tube...

The secret here is you have to drop the prop into the little cage and then stick the rod into it... It wont fit when they are already assembled. Then we got this...
To solve the problem of the prop turning the wrong way on start up I used one half of the colars that held the cage to the toy and stuck a small piece of stainless steel in one side, later to be glued to the top. As BullDZR stated in his DIY when the prop turns the wrong way it will suck itself up to the piece of SS and correct it's direction, then forcing the prop backward and clearing the piece of SS and blasting out water...
This is what it looks like complete and freshly tested...
I'm not sure how to post an AVI file but I will try... Hope you enjoy'd my DIY, I did It cost me 10 dollars and 3 hours... BullDZR thanks for doing the ground work! This thing is awsome and suck no air whatsoever!
