Tunze nano's

Cool, thanks guys. I see you both have 75's, did they recommend that size for the 4' tank? I have a 4' long 120g tank. I was thinking of going with two of the 6025's. I'm sooo tired of fighting the Seio battle...

Thanks for the feedback,

Ronnie

Roger, in the tunze forum, recommends at least the 6045 and preferrably the 6055 for 4' tanks. I already have decent movement and I'm not replacing, I'm adding to so the 6025 should be adequate for what I'm doing. I believe the water output on the 6025 is maxxed out at 24" and is 18" wide. I might have those reversed, but I believe the numbers are correct.

I have 2 of the 6025's and 2 of the 6045's ordered. My tank is 5 ft long. Should work great. Can't wait for them to come in hopefully next month. Everyone has been out of the 6025's for several weeks now.

I found the 6025's at MD and ordered 2. The 6045's might be a better fit, but no one has them yet. If the 6025's aren't enough I'll either buy another or upgrade to the 45. Gotta love the price on the 25's.

Greetings from BA. I should have the 6025 sometime this week. Marine Depot got a shipment in last Friday and subsequently shipped. Not to sure if they still have any in stock. I will give an update when mine is installed. I'm curious of the comparison to the seio's.

I have received and installed my 6025 today. I'm very impressed. This is the first powerhead I have purchased that uses everything in the box. The magnets are sweet and powerful. The design is great. Very easy to aim, can angle any direction in tank. Good Tunze flow, it seems to produce more flow that my seio 620 which is rated pretty close to the same flow. It can be hooked up to controllers. Tunze has my money when it comes to powerheads.

This isn't for my 90, it is for a 20 gal frag tank. 2 of these in a 20 gal seem about right for SPS. I wouldn't go much bigger in tank size with this powerhead for sps, maybe 30 or 40 gal max. With softies you can probably go 55 gal.

The 6025 is rated by Tunze for tanks between 11 and 53 gal. Its flow rate by tunze is 660 GPH.

I haven't read anything about them hooking up to controllers. I have heard that they could go on timer/wavemakers at a minimum of 15 minute intervals. The 6055 is controllable. I can't wait to add my 6025, it should be here tomorrow. That'll jump my turnover rate to over 50x.

Ok my bad. After re-reading the instruction manual (universal manual for 6025, 6045 and 6055), only the 6055 will be able to be controlled. The 6055 can be controlled by the 7094 and 7095 multicontroller and the 7091 single controller. Apparently it also has a "fish care function" where it causes a revolution of the "screw" every 20 seconds. Not exactly sure what the "screw" is but it sounds very safe for fish! :D

I think that basically means that it back spins so if a fish gets sucked to the housing of the powerhead, it will blow it off. I've seen lots of fish get stuck to Tunzes and other stream style mods because the suction is so great. Heck, my little Yellow Tang accidently got stuck on the guard to my MaxiJet1200 once. Don't know how or why, but I took him off and he was swimming strongly and wasn't sick *shrugs*

I just got in the two 6025 today that I ordered about a week ago. I am impressed with the size of the pump and water volume it puts out, but they are VERY NOISY. The rattling is so loud. I called champion lighting where I purchased the pumps and they said Tunze says they have had this problem with some and you may have to push in the impeller futher in to quite down the noise. I did that and it did'nt effect the loud vibration at all. I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. They tell me these pumps are supposed to be completely quite like the larger pumps. I have two more of the 6045's ordered and am wondering if I need to cancel the order if this is there normal funtion.
Thanks,

Yeppers, from what I have heard, the US Tunze rep (roger) is REALLY great and dealing with problems, especially with people here on Reef Central....

I called roger and he is going to send me another bracket since one was broken from the get go. Charlie I checked out the reef central forum and you are right Tunze is having alot of problems with the nano's both at start up and also peole are having problems with them later on. But I am giving them the chance to make things right. The bad thing about it all is if anyone has problems with the pumps and have to send them back you have to pay shipping to them. That doesnt seem right. Roger said that the nano alot of the time will quite down in a few days, if not then you have to send them back and pay the shipping. Roger suggested that I get the 6000 or the 6060. The new controllable 6055 is really only made for 3 feet of distance and will not work well on the larger 5-6 feet tanks with 24" depth.

I really can't hear mine, although it is in the same room as another tank, so the noise from the other tank may be covering it. I have to ask, did you place the little rubber/plastic feet 4 places on each magnet? Just trying to help the troubleshooting.
Nate

I got mine today...dead silent. Easily outdoes the two Seio 620's on the opposite end of the tank. It's a little bigger than I thought it was going to be, I'd say it's as big as my 620s but because of the mount it's in a more confined space. Overall, I'm impressed and satisfied, hopefully, I don't have any issues as it runs longer.
