Tunze NanoStream or Koralia PH?

What do you guys think? Any input would be good on them.

One of them is going into a 29g mixed reef. Either a NanoStream 6025 or a Koralia #1 powerhead.

I have a korola 3 and 1. They are good pumps. I really like the way they look. But both are good pumps.

Its like comparing volvo and lexus. Both are good now its just preferance.

I have a couple of Koralia #4, they are nice pumps.

the flow pattern could be better, but I won't complain to much base on price, low voltage and amount of flow.

I just put a Koralia 1 in my 20g and love it. It definitely has a very dispersed water flow. My toadstools and acros love it though...all the polyps extended fully after I put this pump in. I had a Maxi Jet in the same spot before, but the flow was so directed, I guess they didn't get much flow from it. I moved the Maxi to the back to sweep across the back glass and the Koralia sweeps the front. Now I'm very happy with the flow in my tank.

i've got a friend up in orlando with 2 tunze 6025's in a 55 and she loves it. one on each side of the tank and then one return from her sump and thats all the flow she's using. And she's keeping everything from softy, lps, sps. rainbow and superman monti. Some other exotic stuff. I like them cuz they're a little smaller than the hydor's, but for the extra money I don't know if it's worth it. On the tank I just set up I was going to do 2 6025's, but instead I used a mag 9.5 as a closed loop. so much better than powerheads!!!

I have the koralia 4 and a nano 6045. I think the koralia providees a wider flow. I like its flow better than the koralia though it takes up more space than the tunze.

which one provides a narrow to wide flow? or rather which one is better at doing that. I have a 29g, so I would like it to travel across the whole tank (30 inches, if even that.)

I currently have the following:
Tunze 6025, 6045 and Korallia 3.

The Korallia's bracket and holding magnets are far superior than the Tunzes.
The little tabs on the Tunze braket that clip on to the magnet are a PITA to attach and yu end up breaking a couple in the process since they brake very easily.

Anybody wanna buy my tunzes ::rolleyes:: ?

Illal why the tunze....the Koralia pushes more flow, more random flow I might add. IMO its just preference. If you like Tunze's then go with it....if not...and your indifferent....well Koralia...once again just my opinion.

Can you explain how the Koralia has more random flow being as they are both constantly on and don't change direction?

When I say more random flow......Basically When I put my hand infront of the Koralia, I feel 4 distinct patterns, these patterns seem to spiral out the further away I move from it. With that much agitation, the flow streams interact more with each other. Now im no aquatic engineer, nor am i a master of physics, but in my limited knowledge of I think this interaction cause the flow coming out to "oscillate'.

Im sweating now.....that took the remainder of my "brain juice" for the day.

I actually compared the movement both provided in my tank. The Koralia showed a significant difference. I sold my Tunze, kept my koralia and got 2 more.

Keep in mind Im not saying Tunze sucks....because they dont but if a couple inches of space doesnt matter, and you dont care much for brand just quality of product.....get the koralia.

Tunze Vs Koralia

Tunze Vs Koralia

My comments are based solely on my experience with the Tunze 6025. I have no personal experience with other Tunze products but based on my experience with the 6025, I won't be purchasing any other Tunze products.

I have both a Tunze 6025 and Hydor Koralia 3's. Previous comments on the Tunze 6025's brackets and tabs are accurate in my book.
Tunze designed a very flimsy part on this unit. It's a shame because they are supposed to be a "great" company with "awesome" performance and a "nearly stellar" customer service reputation. Why they'd put such a cheap bracket clip on an otherwise decent unit is beyond me and for a fix, you get two options....wait for the backorder or pack your up and send it in. Either way, you're without your Tunze indefinately until they have enough parts to send yours, or until they receive yours, fix it, and ship it back to you (?? Weeks). From reading lots of other forums, this has a lot of Tunze loyalists scratching their heads as well. I've had my Koralia's since they hit the market and based on what I've experienced, THEY did it right. Sturdy brackets, strong magnets and guess what??? You can take them out to clean them as often as you'd like, and the brackets don't break!

They HAD to have known it's a weak part. Why not put a few extra clips in a baggie and include them with the units huh?

I'd go with the Koralia's. As a matter of fact, the more I think of it, I'm gonna go buy another Koralia and toss that 6025 where it belongs.

Those darn tabs on the 6025 and 6045s are garbage! Tunze streams are a completely different story, their magnet and brackets are great.

i was thinkin of getting a couple nanostreams, now it seems i may just look for a pair of used streams w/ a controller

I think you meant to say that you like to flow of the koralia better though it takes up more space than the Tunze.
