Never tried Vortechs so can't comment on them.

I have used Tunze Turbelle's since I started in the hobby and the now popular Stream pumps have come out since then creating the huge following. Tunze is made well and their customer support from Roger Vitko is second to NONE.

I would not hesitate to buy Tunze as they have been around for a long time and are really sound, if not, they make good.

I also agree with tunze. A big reason for me was the prompt customer service when you need parts or help, you can just go to the tunze forum. I also believe they have the best flow and they use a lot less wattage than other pumps.

I like the vortechs, I run 3 on 3/4'' acrylic, and really like the clean look of no cords in the tank, the heat and electricy from the motor are outside of the tank, and the varied flow they produce.

I did have a problem with the oldest unit I have, the black transformer box quit, after an email, they had a no charge replacement in the mail. Very good, not great customer service, but overall, a very good product IMO

already have a buyer

i had mine gaped correctly and between falling off and the noise they made (the noise from the motor side )

I gave them a chance after the 3 rd time they came off the tank (sometime over the weekend and have no clue how long they were off my tank before i got home from thursday to sunday)TO much invested in corals

i cleaned them every month, that wasnt the problem (almost bought an extra wet side)

they do have great customer service and icecap is the reason i went with them

the other thing is the controller on the w40 is really a joke (that really isnt a controller)

I have seen a tank with vortech's and really like the waving action they create within the tank. Can Tunze generate the same action or would the wavebox be more what i'm looking for.

I was looking at the 6101 with the single controller and the tunze wavebox.

This will be in my 210 which will not be a SPS dominate tank. I just want that swaying motion for the softies that I have.

Chad, LMK if the deal doesn't go through. I have yet to try the new controller, and I agree that it isn't as variable as I had hoped for.

I have two on the right end of the tank, and one on the back left side. They make a frogspawn in the middle bottom wave left, right, and every now and then it will swirl in a circular motion. These are running at 100% all the time. IMO for the price of the wave box and the 6101, you could buy 2 vortechs and have the flow you want to move the softies.

I will not be running both a 6101 & wavebox but deciding between the two of them.

Will (1) 6101 with a single controller create the wave effect I'm looking for or would the wavebox be better suited for this.

I also will be running (2) Korallia 4 that I have already. Thought about putting the two K4 on the right side and the 6101 on the left set to pulse to create a wave action.

Will the single controller do this and what will it not do in comparision to the multi-controller aside from controlling multiple streams.

Does anyone currently run a wavebox on any tank 72" long. Just wondering how high the wave is and does it effect the overflows on the tank?

I run my 6100 on an AC3 aquasurf and get about a 1 inch wave on my tank. I also have the aquasurf controlling a 6000 on our 75 gallon although I don't see much more than about 1/4-1/2" wave on that.

the wavebox isnt a stand alone unit (you will need more flow )

you can get a wave out of 2 6101s (most likely not its all about the timing)

(dont know about the singe controller never had one)(but the multi controller does)
