Tunze Streams located near overflow

I have always located my tunze streams on the sides of the tank nearest the back wall. Haven't moved them in 3 years. Mostly because I thought they looked kind of ugly out there near the front of the tank. Today though, having nothing better to do, I was watching the detritus in the tank floating around but noticed that when the stuff came close to the center overflow, it was suddenly propelled downwards by the flow of the streams. I moved them to the front of the tank and besides having a detritus storm, I noticed that the junk seems to be moving into the overflow easier.
Anyone had any experience with this and do you think the location of the streams is very important?

If I leave them up front I will have to move some corals around. Torch and a few others are not liking the storm!
