Tunze suggestions

I was considering two Tunzes to use with my Apex for my 90 gallon SPS tank. I am not familiar with these power heads and which ones would work with my Apex. I am sure I want and need the controllable ones. Any suggestions as to model number? I want to get it right the first time.

I'd go with a 6205 which will give you some room for growth or a 6105 which should be good enough but if your tank is heavily stocked you may need a bit more (that is why I suggest the 6205).

I am using two 6105s in my 210. Way too much power when everything was little. Now that things have grown (less open water space), 100% power is barely enough for me. Probably not enough for some people.

Moral of the story is 6105s are probably fine in a 90 but I would agree with Ken that you should get the 6205s if you want lots of current for an all SPS tank or have plans to upgrade tanks in the next couple years.

It helps to put aside thinking in gph and think in terms of pattern.

6105- flow covers 7ft by 2ft
6205 about 5ft by 3ft
6305 about 6ft by 3ft

All of which are too strong for a 48" 90 gallon tank.

I would be looking at a 6065 or a 6085
At MAX a 6125
As far as a pattern I would go with two or three of the 6065 in case something does fail you have a nice pattern. The biggest mistake people make is trying to get one power head to do all your flow needs. Better to break it down into small patterns and let them crash into each other. Without the crash you get hard streams of flow and less extension of the corals.
