tunze turbelle stream

I did a search on this power head here and it appears that alot of people use this power head. I'm thinking of taking out my Maxi Jets and replacing with the Tunze for internal circulation.

Question: Any body have and problems with the Tunze? I'm not getting the flow I want with the Maxi Jet.

think the first run bugs are worked out, only problem left is finding one.

they just shipped a bunch though.

Tunze Streams are a pretty tried and true powerhead, the only negative seems to be their steep price. If you have the cash, grab a couple Tunze 6100 and a 7095 controller and enjoy the flow.

Exactly. If you have the extra cash, they're great. There is nothing on the market quite like them. The controllers are awsome.

The vortech's are another popular choice.

I bought a set of 6100's and love them.

Good luck,

Jim

Is the output as advertised?? The Maxi Jet 1200 only has about 295 compared to the Tunze that is in the 1000 g/hr ranges. That is pretty good for the size of the Tunze.

I think I can get a small loan from the wife!

Tunze says that the 6100's that I have pump out 3100gph and I am pretty sure they do. They amount of water that they can move is pretty amazing and they can be turned down manually without a controller. The controller allows all sorts of cool options, so its worth it to get one. Your 125 would definitely benefit from a couple of the 6100's.

there are maxijet mods out there that will get a maxijet 900 into the 1200gph range for about 15$ at most, probably <10 for the 2nd one.

I made 2.

they were fantastic.

till they broke.

I could fix them for about 30cents and 5min, a little peice of airline tubing broke on them after they got brittle in the salt water for a year. I just need to buy .5" of airline...

but Im not, I dont know why Im not. mostly because I want the easy package of a premade powerhead, and the main thing, I want the controller! no wavemaker can really match it.

6101 is coming out in a month or 2 which will run from 600gph to 3100gph, it will replace the 6000 since it goes as low as the 6000 and as high as the 6100. its supposed to cost around 300(as opposed to 330 for the 6100)

something to consider, Im holding off for it, and its killing me.

there will be a 6201 also that will combine the 6100 and 6200 flow rates, Id guess it to be atleast 400 though. that may interest you with the 125g tank, not sure what your wanting.

This is for a 125G? Tunze makes many different models. Different physical sizes, flow rates, controllable, not controllable. What are you looking at?

From your description you are talking about the Nanostreams? The controllable one is the 6055 cost $200 not $300, can do up to 1900 gph with some simple mods, much smaller than the large stream pumps. The 6025 cost only $62 and can do 1250 gph with simple mods but not controllable.

The problem as stated earlier is you will have a hard time finding one, whether the nano or the larger pumps. They are changing over to the new generation of stream pumps, I would wait till they are available.

I think all the currently available nanos are the new generation.

the turbelle streams are all coming up, easily distinguishable by new model numbers, none are available of those yet though.

I'm thinking about the bigger streams and not the Nano since I have a 125 gallon. Are these pumps adjustable for flow rates?? Do you need the controller to adjust the flow rates?

Tunzee streams

Tunzee streams

You may want to think about what you are stocking you tank with (corals) then decide on which tunzee will suit your needs.

The 6000, 6100, 6200 Streams are adjustable, the 6060, 6080 are not. You can adjust the flow with a screw adjustment without a controller, but that is not the point of having a variable flow Stream pump. Generally, a pair of 6100s for a 6' 180G. For a 6' 125G, I would think a pair of 6000s. I would ask in the Tunze forum.

Yeah, the 6100's are alot of flow in my 125. But I bought them just because I can tune them down if I like. With an investment like this, if you speand the money upfront, you always wind up on top. I also won't have to upgrade them if if go up a tank size or two either. So I got that going for me.... which is nice....

I have the Tunze Stream kit TS21 for my 79G which is 2 Tunze 6000's and a 7095 controller. I must say they work great, never had a problem with them. Most powerheads I owned in the past seems to just blows a narrow jet of water at a spot and I end up having a bunch all over the tank looking not so nice. With the two Tunze streams they have a wider flow that kinda fans the water more gently than just blowing. I had my Streams for ober 6 months now and haven't had one problem with them. Cleaned the screens once, took them out and soaked them in vineger than everything just rinsed off. Another plus with the 6000's is if you ever want to upgrade to 6100's you just have to buy the transformers. I don't know anyone who was ever unhappy with their Streams. The nano Streams are still a bit new so I wouldn't know how they peroform. HTH!

jerm290atlc was curious on your stocking of corals at the moment are you mostly lps and softies or sps and lps or ?
the reason i ask is if your going from maxi jet to tunzes it a big step. i had a 6060 in my 90 and they really push some water at 1600 gph
now if your thinking 6100 then wow...

do you have a sand deep sandbed.

these are things to consider.

i have seios (2600)s at the moment and the only reason i like them is the wider dispersed flow while tunzes have that as well.
my sand would always be kicking up no matter which way i placed it

you having a 6 foot tank might be better on this

but if your asking about quality thiers none to better than tunze in my experience.
i have thier nano 6025s and thier osmolator their customer service is awesome

I do alot of polyps and and soft corals. I also have a crushed coral substrate that at times gathers alot of junk. The Maxi Jets just don't seem to push the water around to my satisfaction.

The detritous (spelling?) settles to the bottom and rocks. I want to get it into the water so my skimmer can pull out the junk better.

I have 2 6100's on my 125 and kind of wishing I went with the 6200's. You can always turn them down. With the controller, they can be made to do all kinds of things.
