how do you guys with your tunze keep the sand storms down. I put a layer of special grade reef sand on top of my crushed coral, and it's going crazy...I turned down the output and still creates mess. But I just spent money to uprade to the 6100. So now I have about 4000 gph total in my 128, which is a brand new set up....and all my stonies are at a friends untill my cycle is over.

 I'm seriously thinking about sucking all that sand out of there and only having the DSB in my fuge...is this a bad idea ??

I believe in the DSB method...had success with it in my 55...but want even more flow than this eventually....??

Where are you having a problem? I've got a 6060 in my 58 and have no problems. Then again, mine points across the long way, and the ricochet goes off some rocks.

Give the sand some time, as it gets covered in bacteria it will be less prone to doing this.

I have three 6100's in my 180. You have to play around a bit. Sometimes when the stream is aimed directly at the glass, it will reflect and hit the sandbed. Try to aim them so that the angle at which they hit and bounce is not too steep. You'll get some sand movement in the beginning and eventually it'll stabilize.

my tank is 6 foot...and I have it blowing across the long way...but my tank is shallow I guess is my deal. I have about 3" send bed...and 17" tall tank.

ive got a 6100 in a 90 with a sand bed, no problems with storming, ive got it ina deco rock aimed up at the back wall

My Tunze's have been in just a couple of weeks and its all settled down now. Just have paly with them to get correct angle/flows, but i do love the flow they give my reef!!!!

you could add some rubbles or small rocks...it will add a natural look and will prevent your sand from moving.

i have the same problem....i am siphoning all the sand out and going BB...for other reasons as well......i am starting a thread come check it out.......

i only have 1 6000 with controller, mag 5 return and a couple of Mj's that are about to be replaced by a seio620 and i am upgrading the return to a mag 7 or mag 9 so even more flow....SB must go

if you want to keep the sand in the display you can put some rocks on the substrate to block the flow of the sand...tinker with it thats your best bet right now...i have tinkered though and sand is gone

I have 3 x 6100 in a 53 x 24 x 24 and no problems....... It took me like four days to figure out how to point them in order not to blow the substrate.

It's pretty much chilled out now...I put some lace rock in right where it was blowing it around. I don't know enough about bb to jump into it at this point...and I really like the look of a sand bed.
