Tunze Wavebox vs. Wavebox Nano Advice. Thanks!!

So.. Finally getting serious about getting a wavemaker. I currently have a 60 gal tank but am planning to go to a 120 in the semi near future. I did the comparisons between getting a Vortec and a Tunze Wavebox and am pretty set on a Wavebox. (But feel free to leave opinions on both as I appreciate any feedback)

Anyways.. I can get a New nano Wavebox for about the same price as a 1 yr old reg Wavebox. My questions are.. How long can I expect a wavebox to last? And Would you go for the new nano wavebox vs the used reg wavebox (considering both are rated for at least 120 gal)? And do you think a reg wavebox would be way too much movement for a 60 gal?

Thanks in advance for any responses, I really appreciate any feedback. Looking to make moves on this sometime this week.

Thanks,
Brian

I would get the full size wavebox. I have never had a nano but the reg. ones power to the pump is controllable to allow for a less intense wave. so it should work on the 60 just fine and when you upgrade then turn up the power to the pump for a larger wave.

As to life span mine is 3+ years old and still strong. Its a Tunze:D

I agree w/ Robsreefs. As I have zero experience w/ tunze wavebox. I have 2 6100's and one 6200. They are over three years old and running strong. If Im not mistaken the 6200 series pump is in the full size wavebox. Again, they are very adjustable so it should work in any size tank.

i used the nano wavebox on my 70g and loved the wave action it created. i am using two vortechs now and love them also, although i wish they were as reliable as tunze products, on my third warranty repair in a year with the vortechs, but thats another issue. whenever i get around to re-aquascaping the tank and can make room in the back of the tank i'll add the nano wavebox to run along with the vortechs.

IMO your decision shouldnt be between a wavebox and vortech, they accomplish differant things. with the wave box you'll still need powerheads to circulate the water throughout the tank, or at least thats my understanding. so your decision will be between vortechs and tunze pumps plus your wavebox.

That's amazing! in 225g With just 2 return outputs and a nano box. You gotta love Tunze!! It looks like the nano is just as good as the reg. one. If it can do that in a 225 than your 60g Then your 125g Should be perfect. Well Good luck on finding the one for you. ether way youll be happy.

Thanks, Robert.

Get the nano wavebox. Check out the Tunze forum. There are people using them on big tanks and they work well.
