Should i put my blue damsel in my hospital tank and keep all my light
off in my main tank until my diatom problem subsides?

This is very normal for a new tank (I am assuming this is a new tank, right?) Just wait it out.

Look s like its still cycling. Also some more water movement may help.Still didnt mention water readings as this would help determine of you should remove fish or not. Alos on a side note the damsel is kinda aggressive making it harder to add less aggresive fish. Its least aggresive to most agressive for easier accumulation.

how much flow do u have in the tank?

and is it a new tank? if so all new tanks goes through that phase

this all the flow i have ATM, i want to buy a separate powerhead and put it in the middle of the tank. Its about 2 1/2 weeks old.

o than its mostly likely due to it being a new tank, and its in the middle of its cycle, its normal for this to happen to a new tank

are u cycling with that damsel? your tank is probably not done cycling yet

i had diatom on my rocks when i was where you are now, so just be patient and it should go away. GL

ok because i wanted to go out this weekend and buy some fish, or new sunpod lighting. Will this be ok for the fish or should i wait? And check out my "What do you guys think post to" need to get some ideas. Thanks

how long do u have your light on for now?

u might want to reduce it for now, but u dont have to completely shut off your lighting

ok, i usually have them on from 7:30AM to 10:30 to 11:00PM. Today i turned them off at 5:00PM and now i just have my moonlights on.

as for fish, your tank is still young and probably shouldn't add fish yet

like demonsp said, what are your parameters? you want to shoot for zeros in annomia, nitrate, nitrate

you can do what i did, but it might be soon, what i did was buy 2 clowns during my 4th week of cycle and i QT the clowns for 2 weeks before they went into the tank.

that way i knew my tank was done with the cycle process after 6 weeks

You need to test for ammonia , nitrite , nitrate ,PH,and salinity at first and whene levels drop and steady out then you know your cycle is over.$ to 8 weeks depending on your setup. The longer the better.Limiting the main lights and slowly adding time will help with algea control.

turning off the lights will help. i would turn them off for three or four days. then only run them for about four or five hours until things slow down.
