TV Tanks

they may know how to build unique tanks(??????) but they sure don't promote proper care/stocking methods/levels ect, i have seen several episodes of their show and i bet the majority of fish in their show are dead before the show even airs, if they even survive thru filming

Another TANKED thread! Yippie!

Do a google search and read some of the interviews. A very large portion of the show is scripted and made for TV excitement. There is tons of behind the scene's, deleted, not even filmed things about the actual fish portion that goes completely unheard.

Ask and look around at some of the people in the large scale aquarium care business youll find these guys are doing what everyone else in that type of business is doing as far as fish care & big money tanks. Youll also find they been in business for like 20 years so if they were that terrible & fish murders they wouldnt be in business as nobody would continue to pay for tank after tank of dead fish.

I dont understand why people in this (and other) forum are so dead set against this show. It has an opportunity to bring new people, equipment, and money into your hobby.

Take it with a grain of salt (now pun intended), this hobby survived Nemo, and this show is far from that popular. I think we'll all be ok.

I'm not upset at all with the show; I actually find it funny that idiotic info can make you money, but that's TV. This forum deals with real SW fishkeeping, this show isn't about that. It sort of reminds me of the "Nemo" movie and the countless little Nemos that croaked in little kids goldfish bowls.
BTW, this is the first I've really heard about this show. So thanks for keeping track of the threads, doing all the Google research, and then implying that others are obsessed with the show.

i like the show and the unique tanks, just wish they would put a info segment in each episode about proper fish care., the reason i put ???? about thier tanks is because i know nothing about them at all(dont know anybody who can afford a custom tank including myself)

Wow...

Wish I hadn't seen that clip!

I have watched two episodes of the show (not sure how many there have been I just DVR'd the series)

They may know what they are doing and may not be 'fish murderers' but I definitely have seen the bigger guy go to a fish holding center and grab two puffers and **** with them pretty good. Common sense dude.

Also, they don't look like they build jack. They may have at some point but in the show they just have these ridiculous ideas that they have their employees make happen. It's basically just another Orange County choppers program that will make a little bit of money but will never see a second season.

As for saying a 'school of blue tangs' is great for residential aquariums...whaaaaaaat.

Come on...scripted or not that is just insane. People are going to expect to do that in like 55g tanks after watching that.

I don't get too bent out of shape but I definitely don't think there is nearly enough gonig on behind the scenes to justify the stuff they do air. I mean...they aren't asking that guy to jiggle a dogface puffer until he puffs up in defense he just wanted to...and it was on camera.

I'm pretty surprised that Animal Planet airs some of that stuff honestly. That's the equivalent of firing a gun next to a group of horses and watching them all flee while the horse whisperer is there laughing his *** off.

these guys are flat out *@#&... schools of blue tangs... yeah rite unless the tank is over 1,000 gallons.... not mentioning all of the blue tangs on the show have HLLE...

and sharks being good residential tank fish? are you kidding me??? my LFS has a 3' black-tip shark in a 1,200 gallon tank and that already looks pathetic. just plain too small for sharks...

I think you've just solved the great mystery, HLLE is caused by idiotic comments regarding fishkeeping.

it's funny how some people are so oblivious. they feed their fish only brine shrimp (or cheap flake containg nothing but protein) and thinking that's enough. that's kindda like we humans live solely on fried chickens. it's not going to be long before the malnutrition kills us...

What's that pointy one for then?

remember when animal programs were actually educational? Animal planet is really putting out junk for sensationalism instead of promoting the welfare of the animals. I think what everybody is getting steamed about is that for those new to the hobby and not knowing anybody and watching the show and not doing research may try and go out and do some of the things they say (like everybody getting chihuahuas because of Paris Hilton to be cool, or cute or something, and then the dogs end up in the shelter). I can see someone reading that top 5 and putting a school of tangs and a shark in a small tank. (hey, according to them, sharks are cool and are liked by celebrities, and athletes, ugh).

I don't know how you guys could watch even more than 10 minutes of that show. They are a bunch of bumbling morons. I couldn't get past their stupid facial expressions and speech. I seriously have never seen more than 10 minutes of one episode. That show is worthless.
