Twitchy shrimp?

CBS added on Fri, was doing great, now he is twitching and looks pitiful. Only topped off the h2o today, all paramaters normal. Trying to find some support on helping him out. Not normal molting behaviours.

Twitching constantly? Mine lifts up her claws and shakes them sometimes like she wants to kick my butt.

I wish that was it. He didn't make it. Stranger thing is I bought another, and that one only lasted about 12 hours. LFS suggested that it was copper poisioning, but no copper in the H2o. I am thinking salinity. Was only 1.019, so I have bumped it to 1.023 and will try again. I feel horrible.

Ya, that salt is way too low at 1.019. I'm pretty sure the shock of the low salt is what did it. You are better off at 1.023.

Why was the salt so low in the first place? Just curious. Did you recently Hypo the tank, or has it always been that low? Like I said, I'm just curious.

I'll be curious to see the advice on this issue as i have a new pair of peppermints and a skunk cleaner shrimp. Mine however kinda rock back and forth. I named em ray charles and stevie wonder cuz if it :rollface:

Well do you have anmy other invertebrates? THat is one question to start.

That specific gravity would definately not be good for any invert, they are the most sensitive to salinity changes.

Believe it or not, I have a brittle star, serpent star and 2 hermit crabs. All getting along without any problems.
Not sure really why the salinity was down, I had topped off the tank the day before, but other than that, no changes. The Ph was a little low, so I added buffer and it is back up. Gonna give it another week before I try to keep from killing another.
