Two Clown fish pairs in the same tank?

Hey,
I know this is probably a dumb questions as Im pretty sure the fish would not get along together, however Ive thought of trying to have a pair of ocellaris and a pair of the black and white percula clowns or maroon clowns in my tank. Anybody ever had two different clown pairs in the same tank of different species?

Clowns fish are not aggressive and you could have more than 2. I have 10 in my tank.

Huh? In the 15+ years of keeping clowns I have found them to be one of the most aggressive fish for its size.

While there are a few exceptions, keeping more then a pair in a tank is a bad idea.

Doing more might work short term, but odds are once a pair forms and starts spawning, there will be big issues.

It largely depends on the size of the tank. A clown in the wild will have 3 sq feet or so it defends. If you have a six foot tank, it gets easier.

Clowns are in the same family as damselfish, and can be very aggressive against related species (i.e. other clowns). individuals may vary, but as a rule its best one pair per tank.

I've seen Ocellaris clowns harass a tang on the opposite end of a 6' tank from their nest...I wouldn't bother.
