two fish in QT, only one seems ill

Hello,

I have two clown fish in QT right now and I'm unsure how to proceed.

The problem is, one of the fish seems to be ok, the other one doesn't really seem to be interested in food and is always breathing rapidly. The QT is a permanent setup and the water parameters are ok. I did a preemptive prazipro treatment for the first two weeks, but other than that I haven't medicated.

The healthy clownfish wasn't interested in food for a while either, but he seems to be gaining an appetite finally. I have only had the fish for 2 weeks, so I wasn't planning on transferring them to the main tank yet, but, do I need to wait until the "sick" one improves before transferring them? Can I move the "healthy" one after 4-6 weeks if it seems OK, or is it contaminated by the "sick" one?

The only visible signs that there is something wrong with the sick one is the lack of appetite and rapid breathing. Could it still just be stressed out, or does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to help it?

A lot of questions I know, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Update:

I just checked the ammonia levels again and the tank looks like it is just about at .2 SO, it looks like my ammonia is high. I'm warming up some water now to do a water change, but it looks like it/they are suffering from ammonia sickness/poisoning.

Is there anything I can do to help them aside from increased water changes? Also how devastating is this to their long term help, assuming I keep the ammonia down from here on out? I'm going to do some research on it, but now I'm worried for their long term health.

finally, I still need some advice on how to handle two fish in QT. Obviously, I'm hoping to get them in the big tank as soon as they are safe to go. they are both tank raised fish BTW.

thanks!

you could use some prime or amquel for the ammonia assuming you have not used copper. Do you have good flow for oxygenation?

I would not transfer the fish until both are healthy. I would go under the assumption that both are ill. Without any further info I would not like to venture a guess on an illness. There is a sticky at the top of the forum that has a diagnosis section that may help you narrow down something. Good luck
