Two question about building a refugium

Where can I find weld-on cement locally? I'm building my refugium in 2 sections so I can fit it under my stand. One section will be about the size of a 10 gal and the other about the size of a 15 long. Will 3/16 plexi be thick enough or do I need to go up to 1/4? I'm asking because there is a substantial price difference.

I've never been able to find Weld-On locally. I had to order mine online. You might want to look into some plastic/acrylic stores such as Regal Plastic.

Are you putting baffles in a refugium? Is the refugium made from acrylic or glass?

I have alway purchased my weld-on at Regal Plastics. I think they are on Reno and west of Council.

Also I would probably go with the 1/4 inch cell cast. Regal also has a bargain bin that you can find some decent sized acrylic for projects.

Thanks. Do you know if they are open on Sat.? It's going to have baffles, one to hold the bioballs, one to hold the sand back in the refugium, intakes and outflows too. I tend to over-engineer things so if i screw up I have a back-up in place.

You might re-think the bio-ball thing and go with rock rubble instead. Although I have never used them I have not heard anything good. From "Nitrate Factory" to "Phosphate Factory".

Rock rubble in you drain section makes more sense to me.

Here is a pic of a sump that I built. Travis sent me the pic and it works just like a sump/fuge is supposed to.

I tried to find this pic the other day but couldn't. Maybe it will give you some ideas.

I don't know why that did that. I'm going to try it different. If this dosen't work, click on the pic for a larger one.
