I got my replacement typhoon III today....

question:
When i'm done making water...does the system empty itself or do i have to do that somehow? OR....does the water stay in there and is that ok?

hope i am making sense

i've never drained the unit after using it. i believe the membrane needs to stay moist at all times.

These units do not drain themselves, and that is OK. That's assuming you'll use it again in some reasonable amount of time - i.e., you wouldn't want to let it set unused for 2 months...

thanks guys...gabriel...i will install the newly arrived unit and will come back with feedback

gabriel...i hooked up the new one and im making 0 TDS water as i type this - love it :) so convinient.

I want to make drinking water as well - i assume i do that through the "RO Only" output....i also got a separate tube looking thing to remove odor\taste - am i supposed to hook that up to the RO only?

not sure what you mean by the separate tube. Everything should be tagged. The last page of instructions is helpful w/ the valve settings, depending on what you want to do.

I've been filling my water bottles. Beats the $1.25 price out of a vending machine. :(

Yes, drinking water is better RO only, from the ro connect it to the "separate tube looking thing" which is an activated carbon post filter to polish the water and improve the taste.
Do not pass the drinking water trough the DI filter.

By the way regarding the operation if the unit has an ASOV valve (and I think all typhon III do) you only close the product water output and the ASOV will take care of shutting off the waste water draining and the unit will stay pressurized for the next ime you open the product water line.

For reef use I would recomend you trow away the first three to five minutes of product water. When the system is off but pressurized, impurities pass trough the membrane and come out with the first water produced.
