Ultra Maximas

Has anyone else noticed that its almost imposible to find an Ultra Maxima over 2 1/2 inches these days. I am dying for an Ultra Blue Maxima but cant seem to find one. The tiny little cultured ones are to small for import IMO.

The clam farms can not keep up with the supply and demand so that is all we are going to see for a year or so unless you buy some wild ones. There are a few more new clam farms in operation but will not start to export till end of 2005 or 2006.

It take 2+ years to raise a clam to 2.5" The smaller ones ship well.

www.exocticfish.com has a wide variety of maxima's. I avoid the small clams as well. They are sensitive when it comes to feeding.

So far I have had pretty good luck with the baby ultra max's...they just need to be fed often, there are a few sites out there that have some in stock...Barry has some great stuff at clams direct, but his stuff is sold out so quickly that Im always too late...I have had good luck with etropicals.com they sell the ORA maxs a little pricy but there shipping is only 25 bucks, with gas prices the way there are its cheaper for me to pay shipping than make the two hour round trip drive a lfs that sells clams....
