Underground PVC for EEL problem

Hi All,
I build my system with a 3 inch pvc tunnel for the an EEL.
The problem is that EELs never come out and I can't enjoy my Snow Flake and Zebra EELs.
I want to take it out and leave the rock work as it is.
Good or Bad?
Create more caves? Anything else I can do to enjoy the EELs and them being happy ?

my eel uses my under the sand pvc system just as often as he uses the caves in the rockwork. your rock looks less than desireable for an eel you dont have many places it can hide in and i suspect it doesnt feel as safe in the rocks as it does in the pvc. add more rock and leave pvc in there.. also do you only have one opening to your pvc system? that might be a problem for them

i suggest you add more rock. you have mainly large pieces all lined up in a row with a few nooks and crevices between them but not much for an eel to make caves and dens in.

How long have u had your eels? All the snowflakes and zebras I've had are pretty bold. Especially once they learn you feed them. I would add more rocks like everyone suggested and give it time as it looks like your tank is fairly new.

I had a SFE that lets just say would swim Laps anytime he thought my shadow was walking by the tank thinking he was going to get a chunk of Squid or a Shrimp or his favorite a big chunk of Octopus. Got him as a 8 inch baby lost him when my town had a Tornado wipe out the Power grid for about a week. He was 28 Inches long when he died. He was a sweetheart also.

yea my snowflake is almost ALWAYS out and when he isnt out he is just laying with his head out of my pvc opening just watching everything. very active.

If they are that new, might they just be getting used to their new digs? I'm no eel expert, but I'd imagine with time they'd get more friendly as they figure out you're feeding them.
